Chloe talks us through the final 2016 show for The 1975

For the final 2016 show of their “I like it when you sleep for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it” tour, the 1975 took to the stage for a sold out performance at Cardiff’s Motorpoint arena on December 22nd.

The set list consisted of old and new favourites such as ‘Chocolate’, ‘Girls’, ‘Loving Someone’, ‘Fallingforyou’ and ‘Sex’.  The staging and aesthetic was everything you’d expect – neon rectangles featured skywards whilst projected images or colours featured in the background (seriously, I bet every single person there posted a stage snap on Instagram).

Throughout their tour, ‘The 1975’ were also joined by support act ‘The Japanese House’ who performed tracks such as ‘Leon‘, ‘Teeth‘ and ‘Face like Thunder’. With a similar style of music to The 1975 (they’re also signed to the same label FYI) it comes as no surprise that they thoroughly warmed up the crowd ready for Matty and Co. to take to the stage.

Highlights of the night included lead singer Matt Healy wearing a leopard print Santa hat, draping a Welsh flag around his shoulders whilst addressing the crowd and a wild dance sequence for the last song of the night “The Sound”.

After seeing them perform in the Manchester O2 academy back in 2014, this show was equally as good – with more attention paid to performance quality (as expected due to the larger audience size) and general staging aesthetic – it was INCREDIBLE.

The 1975 are touring other areas of Europe and America throughout 2017, details of which can be found on their website here.
