After the spectacle that was Anthony Joshua vs Wladimir Klitschko back in April, fans were treated to another big match bout in Anthony Joshua vs Carlos Takam.
Coming into the fight both boxer’s records were far from embarrassing, with Joshua sitting on a nice 19-0 100 KO win record and Takam’s is not too shabby either with a 35-3 win-to-loss ratio.
However, it will come as no surprise that Anthony Joshua was the outright favourite coming in. As the ref announced the fight and the bell rang, fans knew they were in for a thriller, titan pitted against titan.
However, a dark cloud of controversy loomed over the fight with the ref calling a tenth-round stoppage.
In the earlier rounds, Takam landed a nasty blow on Joshua which induced a broken nose that required medical attention. However, it wasn’t long though before Joshua returned the favour, making sure Takam was left with a nasty cut, just above the American’s right eye.
That blow brought the fight to an end, sparking various reactions on social media, with fans claiming the fight should have carried on as Takam was still fit to compete.
At the end of the fight, Joshua addressed the crowd saying:
“What do you want, UK fans? Wembley? Cardiff? Las Vegas? I just keep the sport growing.”
It has been reported Deontay Wilder had listened in to Joshua’s challenge and wants to fight the British champ as soon as next year.
