L’Osteria celebrated its grand opening in Southampton, and Sonar Magazine was there to capture the first moments!

We arrived at 6pm and were greeted by smiling staff, given wristbands and shown around the brand new restaurant. First impressions were fantastic. The space has been designed very well and includes a good mix of open plan areas, intimate seats and even a seating area for kids to relax and enjoy.

Upstairs continued the theme with another bar area and lots of seats and places to relax. They even have a special feature, a private room! The sliding doors provide an excellent private area for parties and meals. They even have a balcony which provides an open space, but still feels private, overlooking the esplanade for Watermark

We were then shown to our table and were given the menu which had the most fantastic options for food and drink! We were also told to help ourselves to the buffet of canapés that were arranged around the tables. We were given complementary drinks while we browsed the menu.


The three of us decided to try different things! Jessie went for a Salami pizza – a whole 18 inches!. Naomi decided to go for Maccheroni e formaggio, a pasta with lots of different cheeses and I decided to go for Penne pollo alla Romana – a creamy chicken pasta.

We were served very quickly and couldn’t fault the service. All of the staff were kind and very helpful. The food itself was delicious and served in a very clean and fantastic way. The flavours were beautiful also and were easy to taste.

After our main meal we were given the menu to pick our deserts. Jessie and I decided to go for the chocolate soufflé with a mango and passionfruit sorbet while Naomi went for the mini duo of deserts Tiramisu and Crema da Fragola.

We all tried different drinks also, one of the most intriguing was Naomi’s “Hellen Special” which was a mix of brandy and egg nog with hot milk and whipped cream.

We were all also given a fantastic bag of treats to take away and we cannot thank them enough for the fantastic hospitality! The restaurant is highly recommended and we cannot wait to go back!
