Christmas means that television series ramp up the drama and deliver some of their best episodes of the year, but what should you be watching this year?
The Great Christmas Bake Off
4:45pm on Christmas Day and 7pm on Boxing Day (BBC One)
Paul, Mary, Mel and Sue all reunite once more for the final Christmas edition of Britain’s favourite baking show! Over the special two part edition, the team welcome back past bakers taking part in three special Christmas baking challenges.
Doctor Who: The Return of Doctor Mysterio
5:45pm on Christmas Day (BBC One)
The Doctor and the TARDIS return after a year away from our screens for a special Christmas episode. In this edition – co-staring Matt Lucas – The Doctor finds himself in New York and is forced to team up with a mysterious superhero to stop an alien invasion.
The Lady In The Van
9pm on Christmas Eve (BBC Two)
Maggie Smith warms our hearts in the premiere of The Lady In The Van. It follows the true story of Alan Bennett’s friendship with a homeless woman who he befriended before allowing her to park her van outside his home!
Alan Carr’s Christmas Chatty Man
10:30pm on Christmas Day (Channel 4)
Alan Carr brings us a festive edition of his hit chat show! He is joined by an all-star line up of guests including Tom Daley, Gary Barlow, Dannii Minogue and Martin Kemp alongside music from Emelie Sande.
8:25pm on Christmas Eve, 9:30 on Christmas Day and 8pm on Boxing Day (BBC One)
Albert Square have been building up to Christmas for weeks, and it’s now time to watch the climax of the storylines. Phil’s health rapidly deteriorates over the day while the return of Max Branning shocks some of the residents. Meanwhile, Lee finds himself in an impossible situation and Dot closes her beloved laundrette for the final time.
