Solent Halls nominated for national award

With modern facilities, the best student experience and affordable prices, Southampton Solent’s own residential halls have been nominated for a national award.

The residences have been nominated in the category of “Exceptional University Halls of Residence”.

To be considered for this award student residences have to show evidence of a number of things, including a modern student environment, encompassing best in class learning, design and communal facilities, innovation, vision and boldness that set them apart from the crowd and being excellent value for money and receive a consistently high satisfaction rating.

“We submitted an entry based around our recent refurbishments, which are providing modern facilities that compete with similar residences across the city centre,” says Lyndon Brown, Solent’s Campus Operations Manager.

Overall, Solent has several different sites for residences – Kimber and David Moxon Annexe, Hamwic, Deanery, Chantry, Lucia Foster Welch and Emily Davies. Some of the residences were refurbished over the summer, increasing their comfort and modern style further.

Abbie Brock, one of the residence assistants based at Chantry and Hamwic said: It’s great that the Solent halls are getting recognition. We have a great support network through out the halls and all of the staff work really hard 24/7 to ensure the students feel happy in their accommodation”

We’ll find out on December 7th if Solent win the award!
